OAK PARK / SALINAS AREA, Monterey County — October 2026. The Monterey County Board of Supervisors approved an additional $92,309 for storm-drainage maintenance in County Service Area 9–Oak Park at its March 10, 2026 meeting. Resolution 26-067 directs the county auditor-controller to increase fiscal 2025–26 appropriations using the district’s unassigned fund balance, rather than announcing a new tax or a completed drainage project.

What prompted the appropriation?

The county’s adopted resolution says inspections following rainfall showed culverts needed additional work. Its staff report explains that runoff in the Santa Rita Creek watershed moves through the Bolsa Knolls/Rogge Commons subdivision via culverts, ditches and channels toward Santa Rita Creek within Salinas. Removing obstructions and maintaining these drainage facilities can reduce flood risk and protect streets and property.

Which neighborhoods are actually in CSA 9?

Although the service district is named Oak Park, county documents describe it as three geographically separate maintenance areas just outside Salinas: Bolsa Knolls/Rogge Commons; Country Club Meadows along San Juan Grade Road; and Rosehart Industrial Park near Potter Road. The active services include storm drainage and street lighting. Not every part of Salinas is in the district, and the new $92,309 cannot be assumed to pay for improvements on every street.

Was the money approved?

Yes. The completed resolution records passage on March 10 with all five supervisors voting in favor. That establishes budget authorization; it does not by itself establish that contractors were hired, individual culverts repaired, or a final expenditure total paid. Residents can ask Public Works, Facilities and Parks for the work orders, specific locations and subsequent maintenance reports.

Editorial clarification: This is a documented March budget decision examined in October, not an announcement of new flooding or a claim that maintenance has been completed.
